Fall Savings and Flameworking Class Registration Now Open

Oct 1
5 min read

Fall is a good time to refresh your space, choose a meaningful gift, or finally sign up for the creative class you have been thinking about. To celebrate the season, all products are now 10% off with coupon code FALL10 until October 15th, and registration is open for in-person, flameworking classes at the Morean Arts Center.

That means there are two easy ways to bring more glass, color, and creativity into your fall: pick out a finished piece, or learn how molten glass becomes one.

Save 10 percent with coupon code FALL10

For the fall season, use coupon code FALL10 to receive 10% off all products until October 15th. The discount applies across the full range of available pieces, so it is a simple way to treat yourself or choose something special for someone else. (Note: I'm still adding more and more products to the online store, so check back frequently to find newly added pieces)

Since the new website and online store launch, I've been adding more of your favorite glass sculptures, ornaments, and jewelry to my online store. To jumpstart your shopping for the holiday season I am giving you incentive to buy now. (Note: pieces may not be completed until the end of November, so if you are not in a hurry for your piece(s), then this fall sale is for you!)

To use the discount, enter the code exactly as shown:

A few ideas for using the fall savings:

  • Choose an everyday piece that adds color to your routine.

  • Start holiday shopping before the rush begins.

  • Pick a gift with a handmade touch.

  • Add something new to a collection.

  • Try a piece in a color you might not usually choose.

Because every handmade glass item has its own small variations, shopping early gives you the best chance to find the piece that speaks to you. I will be busy this next month with show prep for the Dunedin Art Harvest show on Nov. 7th- 8th, but if you choose something from the online store and order early and do not need your piece until later in November, you will enjoy the 10% savings on any product. This will also be the last sale of the year prior to the holidays!

In-person flameworking classes are now open

The next class sessions at the Morean Glass Studio are as follows: Wed. evenings, 6 - 9pm. Dates: Nov. 11th, Nov. 18th, Dec. 2nd, and Dec. 9th - Cost: $410.00 per person

If you have ever watched glass move in a flame, you know how fascinating the process can be. It starts as a solid rod, then softens, glows, stretches, rounds, and gathers under heat. Flameworking turns that movement into beads, small forms, and detailed glasswork using a torch and hand tools.

Registration is now open for Beginning Flameworking with Melanie Cech at the Morean Arts Center. (See link below at the end of this blog to sign up). This is an in-person class, which makes a big difference for a hands-on art form. Students can watch demonstrations up close, ask questions in the moment, and get guidance while building confidence at the torch.

A beginning class is a welcoming place to learn the basics, including how glass responds to heat, how to control simple shapes, and how to work safely around a torch. If you are curious but have never tried flameworking before, that is exactly the point of a beginner class.

Glass can feel intimidating from the outside. In class, the process becomes much more approachable. You learn one step at a time, and each skill builds on the last.

Why fall is a great time to learn a hands-on craft -

You can also do it in the privacy of your own home with Virtual Classes!

Fall has its own kind of creative energy. Summer schedules settle down, routines return, and indoor studio time starts to feel especially inviting. A hands-on class can be a grounding way to mark the season.

Flameworking also rewards patience. You cannot rush the glass. You learn to watch the heat, notice the glow, and respond with steady movements. That pace can feel refreshing, especially when so much of daily life moves quickly.

For many students, the appeal is not only the finished piece. It is the experience of making something in real time. You get to see material change right in front of you, and your hands guide that change.

A class also gives you context for handmade work. Once you have tried forming glass in a flame, you start to notice the details differently. Tiny curves, dots, lines, and color changes tell a story about heat, timing, and control.

If you are interested in learning this artform but cannot attend one of my in person classes in St. Petersburg, Florida, don't forget, I have recently launched my Virtual Series that brings you through the entire process of learning my techniques from where you are! What to expect from a beginning flameworking mindset

You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. The best mindset for a beginner is simple: be curious, listen carefully, and let the process teach you.

Flameworking asks you to pay attention to:

  • Heat control

  • Hand position

  • Timing

  • Tool use

  • Safety

  • Shape and balance

  • Color placement

Some things may feel natural right away. Others may take practice. That is normal. Glass has its own rhythm, and learning that rhythm is part of the joy.

The next class sessions at the Morean Glass Studio are as follows: Wed. evenings, 6 - 9pm. Dates: Nov. 11th, Nov. 18th, Dec. 2nd, and Dec. 9th - Cost: $410.00 per person

Shop, save, or step into the studio

This fall brings both sides of the glass experience together. You can enjoy finished handmade work with 10% off all products using code FALL10, or you can step closer to the process by joining an in-person flameworking class.

If the finished pieces catch your eye, the coupon makes this a lovely time to choose something seasonal, personal, or giftable. If the process itself pulls you in, class registration is open now.

Whether you choose a finished piece or sign up to make your own, fall is a beautiful time to bring more handmade glass into your life. Use FALL10 while the seasonal savings are available, and if the flame is calling, this is a wonderful time to begin.
